After years of attempting to replicate Coach’s rebranding strategy, Michael Kors has shifted course—launching an official Amazon storefront that abandons any remaining claims to luxury and fully embraces its accessible identity.

Select handbags, wallets, and accessories are now eligible for Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program, a feature typically reserved for items like detergent, dog food, and paper towels. Customers can schedule recurring deliveries of Michael Kors products at discounted rates, with same-day shipping available in select areas. The move marks a clear departure from the “accessible luxury” positioning the brand once clung to—dropping the luxury, and leaning fully into accessible.

A Strategic Shift from Brand Storytelling to Delivery Logistics

Once marketed as “accessible luxury,” the brand has long faced criticism for overexposure, heavy discounting, and outlet saturation. Previous campaigns aimed at repositioning the label made minimal impact. The Amazon storefront makes the pivot official: convenience over aspiration, volume over brand narrative.

Industry reaction has been less surprise than quiet amusement. Shoppers can now reorder a handbag the same way they reorder toothpaste. Kors product listings appear next to Bluetooth speakers, collagen packs, and ergonomic pillows. One tote is tagged “Frequently Bought Together” with a 12-pack of protein bars and a universal travel adapter.

Subscribe & Save Turns Luxury Into Routine Consumption

Early customer feedback has revealed the unintended consequences of frictionless fashion.

“I accidentally hit Subscribe & Save and only realized it when a new bag showed up—wedged between my 24 rolls of toilet paper and a box of cat litter,” one review reads.

Same-day shipping has also become a key feature, with orders often arriving before buyers have time to regret it and cancel.
